Anna Okeson
1867 - 1937

FACTS AT A GLANCE
BORN: 1867, Skane, Sweden
MARRIED: 1902, August PETERSON
DIED: 1937

Anna Okeson was the eldest of Ola and Bengta's four children. She was 15 years old when she emigrated to America.

The early years in America were hard and money was tight. Anna and her sister Ingrid often worked for other nearby farms and Ola collected their wages. The first time Anna had any money of her own was when worked for a couple that spoke only English. Since Ola couldn't understand anything but Swedish, he couldn't collect her money.

Anna married August Peterson in 1902. August was originally from the Smolanding-las-Vislanda region of Kronesberg Province in Sweden.

Anna and August had two sons, Albert and Reuben. Neither Albert nor Reuben ever married, they lived together on a farm near Fosston, Minnesota. Albert was the source for much of the early Okeson family history.
