Winnefred Judith Ecklund
1884 - 1946

FACTS AT A GLANCE
BORN: 10 OCT 1885
          Clitherall, Minnesota
MARRIED: Bartholomew Francis HALPIN
20 APR 1906, Saint Paul, Minnesota
DIED: 22 FEB 1948, Seattle, Washington

Winnefred Ecklund married Bart Halpin, an event seen as something of a local scandal due to Winnie's conversion from her Lutheran upbringing to Catholicism in order to marry her husband, the American-born son of Irish emmigrants. Bart and Winnie may have eloped, since records show they were married in Saint Paul, not Andover where they both lived at the time. Seven months later their first child was born. On the 1910 Census, Bart lists his marriage to Winnefred as his second. The census also lists Barts profession as barber. They lived in Andover, South Dakota for several years after they wed, but by 1920 they had moved to Seattle, Washington where they appear to have lived the remainder of their lives. Winnefred dies in Seattle at age 62, a year after her beloved Bart.

Bart and Winnefred had seven children and 31 grandchildren.
