Arnold Henry Bringewatt became a Lutheran minister. He was the President of the Lutheran Family and Children's Services from 1964 to 1976. In 1977 he received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Concordia Seminary in Saint Louis.

Arnold and his wife Mildred worked for social justice throughout their lives. In 1989 the Arnold and Mildred Bringewatt Dinner and Advocacy Education Fund was created to continue their legacy of social justice through ministry continues. The Lutheran Family and Children's Services in Saint Louis presents the 'Rev. Arnold and Mildred Bringewatt Award' annually to a noteworthy individual who best exemplifies these values.

Arnold died in 1990 and is buried at the Western Lutheran Cemetery in Saint Louis, Missouri.
