FACTS AT A GLANCE
BORN: 10 APR 1880
         Borninghausen, Lubbecke, Westphalia

         1897
St. Johns Lutheran Church, Daykin, Nebraska
DIED: 25 AUG 1953

Catherine Marie Bringewatt was the third child born to Frank and Anna Bringewatt. She often went by the name "Katie". She was three years old when her family immigrated to America (1883). Much of her youth was spent in Pemberville, Ohio. In 1891, her family moved to Clatonia, Nebraska.

Katie married Ernst Haake when she was sixteen or seventeen years old and they settled down near Daykin, Nebraska. It is likely that either Katie or Ernst were sterile because both of their children are listed as 'adopted' in the 1930 Census. They also raised a nephew, Leo.

A string of census place Ernst and Katie near Daykin, Nebraska until at least 1940, but most likely they lived there all their married life. Ernst and Katie die within a couple years of each other and are buried at Saint John's Lutheran Cemetery in Daykin.
